STI – Center Service / Hospital Demolition
Santa Teresita is a medical facility spanning an entire city block owned by The Carmelite Sisters, an order within the Catholic Church. A major part of the Sisters’ general plan for Santa Teresita was the demolition of the old acute care hospital to make room for future buildings. After the demolition plan & budget was in place we learned that old construction documents thought to be in storage, were not. Additionally, we discovered the main electrical service was inside the soon-to-be demolished hospital and possibly fed power to multiple critical buildings on the property that were to remain. The extent of the existing electrical distribution and the unknowns were so great that the demolition plans were halted.
Because of our expertise in aged facilities & non-documented installations, CORElectric was sourced to perform the necessary electrical discovery & reconnaissance.. We spent the time required to find and understand the entire electrical power network. As a result, we were able to draw the right plans to reconnect the existing buildings to new power in the absence of the old hospital.
Our team immediately as-built the entire electrical infrastructure, designed a new electrical service to simultaneously maintain power to the remaining existing buildings and also provide power for new buildings scheduled for the future as part of the master plan.
CORElectric’s quick discovery & design allowed the demolition to proceed with only slight delay saving the client significant time and capital costs. This kept the entire demolition team moving, and preserved the use of funding acquired by the Carmelite Sisters.
